The specs which include 8 gigs of ram appears to be outdated compared to the PS4. The Xbox One is using GDDR3 8 GB RAM while the PS4 is using the much faster GDD5 8 GB Ram.
Do you think the PS4 will perform better than the new Xbox? Only time will tell.
On February 20th 2013 Sony set the world on fire, announcing their next generation of video game entertainment, the Playstation 4. We were wowed by demos of Killzone: Shadow Fall and Infamous: Second Son. Both of I.P's were highly popular on the Playstation 3, along with the likes of Uncharted, God of War and a few others.

However, there are a few Sony exclusive I.P's that have gone amiss in recent times, and I believe that the arrival of the Playstation 4 presents a great time for these old I.P's to make a comeback.

Here is our list of Sony Exclusives that Should Return Next-Gen, what's yours?

SOCOM

Remember when SOCOM was the shooter to play on Playstation 2? And then Sony released SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation and SOCOM 4 on Playstation 3 and the series was no longer considered the success it was previously. I don't believe they were bad games, but they certainly weren't the standout Sony shooters we expected given the current online gaming standards. I would love nothing more than to see this game receive a makeover on Playstation 4.
With the improved networking that Sony has promised with the next system, SOCOM could end up being the flagship online experience on the PS4 system.

Heavenly Sword

Let's face it, we need a break from Kratos. So why not treat us with another trip inside the world of Heavenly Sword? The first game holds up pretty well to this day considering it was released earlier in the PS3's life-cycle. However, the game was so short that it felt like a tease.
With Sony including Nariko in last year's Playstation All-Stars perhaps it is indeed a story they are willing to revisit on the PS4. They could even give it to Sony Santa Monica and let them rotate Heavy Rain games between God of War games. I certainly would be in favor of this.

The Getaway

Grand Theft Auto and Saints Row are the biggest ciminal free-roam experiences out, and both of them have games releasing this year on current-gen. Wouldn't it be monumental if Sony did the unthinkable and released the first crime based open-world experience on next-gen technology?
Not only would this give their console an edge by providing an experience that's not available anywhere else, but it would also make The Getaway a household name once more. Sure, they can port over GTA V to the PS4 and next-xbox, but the game was still designed to be compatible with current technology. Where-as if Sony were to bring back The Getaway for Playstation 4 it would likely have been built from the ground up for the technology, this means they could push the limits of open-world to where they've never been pushed before.

Syphon Filter

So the Metal Gear Solid series has gone multi-platform, and the worlds best tactical espionage series (in my opinion) is no longer exclusive to Sony. That's fair play, but why not take this opportunity to bring back the series Sony fanatics have been aching for? Syphon Filter.
There have been many rumors of Sony reviving this old gem, and I'm sure many would purchase a PS4 just for the return of the Syphon Filter series. With Metal Gear Solid, Splinter Cell and Hitman all popularizing the stealth genre, it's a great time to bring back our beloved Syphon Filter.

The Last Guardian

Remember this game? Remember how it was meant to come out over three years ago? Well it has been delayed this long, so they may as well just revamp it and deliver it as a little Playstation 4 treat. Now I know that this would be a very controversial decision, given the fact that there are people out there who literally purchased a PS3 for this game. Not only that but the the game has been in development since 2007, and would be very costly to rebuild for the nex-gen system. But still, the potential of The Last Guardian would be greatly enhanced if they actually chose to go back to the drawing board and make it a next-gen effort.
It's not likely that The Last Guardian will release in 2013 on the PS3, and to release this game for the PS3 while the PS4 is on the market would be an insult to Team Ico. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the game wouldn't be good if released on PS3. I just mean that a game like The Last Guardian deserves the center stage, because lets face it, nobody makes games like Team Ico and Fumito Ueda.
These are just a few of the Sony exclusives we'd like to see make a comeback next gen, but I'm sure you readers will think of lots more. Be sure to add your thoughts below.
DICE has revealed the official boxart for Battlefield 4 on PlayStation 4. This might be how the PS4 boxarts will look. However, take this with a pinch of salt until Sony reveals the official cover design for the console.

It does look great though, check it out below. The game releases in October this year.
Adam Sessler stated in a Twitter post that the cheering did not come from the press, and he's right.

The cheering in the audience is not coming from the press...

It's unprofessional to applaud during a professional event.

Also, everyone had laptops or other things in their hands, which caused them to not be able to clap.

Microsoft wanted their reveal of the Xbox One to seem awesome, but it ended up being a show of mostly football and hardly any game reveals.

Sorry, Microsoft, but even the applauding didn't help the event today.

Considering how much fun we had playing Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, perhaps Nintendo is on to something with porting Wii games to 3DS. Originally released on the console in 2010, DKCR's developers succeeded in rekindling fond memories from the Super Nintendo adventures. The transition could've been better, with slight performance issues and inferior graphics serving as a firm reminder of the underpowered handheld, but by and large, you can't go wrong making this purchase.

That said, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D is essentially the Wii version, but with a handful of tweaks, most notably eight additional stages to master, along with a New Mode that allows players to cash in bananas for useful items, including more balloons (think lives) and a Crash Guard that makes the mine cart temporarily invincible. Opponents of Wii waggle will also praise Nintendo for dropping motion controls in favor of both the Circle and d-pads, both of which add necessary pinpoint precision. Glasses-free 3D is of course a staple, and this is certainly one of the best uses of it, thanks to enemies and debris that fly towards the screen.

Beyond the improvements, players will discover a plethora of quality levels filled with not only bananas, but also collectibles like puzzle pieces and letters that spell out words. That's part of what makes Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D one of the best values for the system, the desire to replay boards to find everything.
In the Xbox One reveal conference, Microsoft Studios corporate vice president Phil Spencer said that there would be 15 exclusives on Xbox this year, 8 of which would be new IPs. We don't know exactly what any of them are yet, but we do know some of the games that are coming to the Xbox One.

Forza Motorsport 5: This one has been confirmed as exclusive. Of course it is; Turn 10 Studios are a subsidiary of Microsoft Studios.

Call of Duty: Ghosts: All DLC will be coming first to the Xbox One.

FIFA 14: Higher-fidelity football.

Madden NFL 25: That other type of football.

NBA Live 14: No foot to the ball please.

EA Sports UFC: You can totally foot the balls.

Quantum Break: Coming from Remedy Entertainment, this is the only game I'm slightly interested in so far despite hating Alan Wake and never finishing Max Payne. Apparently it "blurs the line between television and gameplay, integrating the two into one seamless, uniquely immersive experience". Sounds like this generation's Phantom Tollbooth to me.
Star Trek Rivals is available from the App Store now, and it's a game that offers up far more strategic fun than you might expect from the average movie tie-in title.

Top hints and tips for getting started

- The sides, and corners in particular, are your friends in Star Trek Rivals. Wherever possible, you want to be able to protect the weaker edges of your cards - particularly those with a powerful number, as your opponent will be very keen to take it from you.

- Always consider the knock-on effects of a card capture. Can you create a combo of captures by using a different card than the one you have in mind? The more of the board you control, the better your chance of emerging victorious from the battle.

- Don't be too keen to show your most powerful cards early on in the game. The longer your can go without showing your strongest card, the more opportunities you'll have to catch your opponent off-guard with a devastating, board-clearing combo clearance.

- If you want to be sure of a fair match-up, where your opponent hasn't purchased an overwhelmingly powerful deck from the in-app purchase store, stick to matches with friends. Select 'With a Friend' from the main menu, then choose to connect either through Facebook or Game Center.

- Don't forget that you can sell the cards you've acquired too. If one is particularly weak, you can tap on the card in your deck manager to offload it for a little in-game cash. That cash can be used to purchase cards that work better for you - tap on the blank space in the card gallery to bring up the purchase option.

- You're given 60 Latinum credits at the start of the game, and we recommend that you use this currency to pick up a pack of Lieutenant cards that will help in the early days. If you want to throw a little money at the game, grab the smallest pack of Latinum currency that's available and get the Commander Pack instead.

- You can upgrade cards to become a little more powerful, although you'll likely want to save the currency that's required for upgrading only the best cards in your possession. You'll need a certain number of similar cards, plus a handful of the Credits currency in order to make these upgrades.
Candy Crush Saga has the power to sap the spirits of even the most optimistic person, and sometimes you'll need to bust your way through a level using good fortune and explosive combos. It's not easy bringing two specially-created candies together into a match-up, but if you can pull these combos off you stand a good chance of beating even the toughest levels.

Here's a breakdown of all the special candy combinations you can create in the game.

Here's a breakdown of all the special candy combinations you can create in the game.
Pet Rescue Saga is a puzzle game that takes place in a fictitious cartoon world. Each stage (similar Candy Crush) asks you to complete a specific task, except instead of eliminating jelly from the screen or moving ingredients, you destroy multi-colored blocks to help 10 cute and cuddly animals reach an exit, among other objectives.

You do this by simply grouping blocks of the same color and then clicking to make them disappear. Without the help of boosters (the pickaxe, for instance), you can only blow up groups of two or more, so your primary goal will usually involve gathering as many blue, purple and green boxes together to achieve the highest score.

Like Candy Crush, you're free to play Pet Rescue Saga without spending a dime, though King intentionally baked different boosters into the experience that you can only acquire via in-app purchase.
A hot topic that has caused many much confusion after today's Xbox One unveil was that of used games. According to a Wired report that went live shortly after the event ended, Xbox One will require a mandatory install for all games before they can be played, and that second-time users installing the same disc will have to pay a small, one-time fee. While Microsoft has yet to completely clear up the fiasco, GameStop president Tony Bartel believes that both Sony and Microsoft see "value" in used games in an interview with Polygon following the event in Redmond, Washington.

Interestingly enough, Bartel went on to assure consumers that GameStop will "help" gamers make the jump to next-gen through game and console trade-ins, noting that 16 to 17 percent of new games and DLC are paid for through trade-ins.

With the announcement that Xbox One will not be backwards compatible, will you still be trading in your console for a next-generation Xbox? What about the Playstation 4? Sony has confirmed that there will be no backwards compatibility feature at launch (though there might be a system in place later on). Let us know your thoughts and plans below.
OH GOD! Phew, it's just you guys. I thought you were one of those things above. No, not the lady, one of those disgusting, hairless...I'm at a loss as to what to call that thing. We'll just call it 'Bob'.

'Bob' wants to kill you and you've done nothing wrong, or have you? You'll have to play Resident Evil: Revelations to find out. But you see, 'Bob' knows your weakness. He or she knows that through that tough outer shell of ammo clips and health herbs, you have a heart. A human heart that can be terrified of dark rooms and especially terrified of the things that creep around in them. We're looking at YOU 'Bob'.

With a trainer from Cheat Happens, you'll have no reason to be scared of 'Bob', Justin Bieber look-alikes or any other amalgam of a hairless cat, a crab, a spider and a blood-sucking worm. Discovering that you have cheats like Unlimited Health, Unlimited Ammo Clips, No Reload and Unlimited Herbs is a revelation in itself. Why don't you try it out?

Here is a trailer for Resident Evil: Revelations, available now for PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360, PC and Nintendo 3DS.
This really shouldn't come as much of a surprise to the PC crowd; for many years the PC version of FIFA has shipped without the features found in the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. The Ignite engine looks to offer AI with more "intelligent decisions" and "human-like reaction times." Ignite is said to "computer four times more calculations per second than previous consoles" while bringing "10 times more animation depth and detail."
EA's Ignite Engine, the fancy new tech shown off during the Xbox One event, will only power EA Sports games on next-gen consoles. EA has confirmed that the new Need for Speed title will be revealed at E3 during their "The Download: EA 2013 Preview." During this presentation EA will showcase several of their next-generation games including Battlefield 4, a full range of EA Sports games, the future of Star Wars games, and, of course, the new Need for Speed.

But to give you a small taste prior to the event, a screenshot was uploaded to the Need for Speed Facebook page. The image shows a fancy car with the word "Pursuit" on it. Perhaps it will be along the lines of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit? I'm calling it now, the new game will be officially titled "Need for Speed: Next-gen Pursuit." Has a nice ring to it, right?
World, meet the Xbox One.

Microsoft unveiled Xbox One, an all-in-one console that's fashionably late to the next-gen brawl, promising to turn us into couch potatoes. We'll fill you in on everything we know about Xbox One, it's controller and the all-new Kinect. Stay tuned for further coverage of Xbox One and more on Games.com News as we get closer to E3.

Console Specs

The Xbox One is powered by an eight core x86 CPU providing enough power to "instantly switch between a game and your entertainment app with ease." Adapting to industry standards, it will come equipped with a Blu-Ray drive with which you can "watch movies and play games in stunning HD..." Competing directly with the PS4 spec-by-spec, it also comes built with 8 GB of RAM and a 500 GB hard drive, which as Microsoft elaborates, will be smaller due to "...significant amount of storage..." consumed by the Xbox One's required software. Keeping things moving briskly and lag-free will be a critical part of the Xbox One's experience and "the combination of its CPU, GPU and ESRAM is like having a supercomputer in your living room."

Controller details

The thought of Microsoft changing the near-perfect Xbox 360 controller could make a grown person cry, but just look. It's not bad. It's rather good, actually. First of all, the analog nubs are extra grippy and concave to enhance your comfort and precision. The D-Pad will be easier to use and more accurate, which means no more screaming when you mess up trying to string together combos. One of the most interesting changes to the controller are the "vibrating, impulse Triggers". Who knows if this will act to provide natural resistance to actions like firing a gun or executing a melee action in-game. Similar to the PS4's Dual Shock 4, the Xbox One controller will act as another form of player identification for the Kinect. By pairing the controller to the person who is using it, the Xbox One can intelligently sign in and sign out of user accounts dynamically. Awesome.

Kinect

The Kinect is not necessary to fully enjoy all the Xbox 360 has to offer. As a serious gamer, I know I'm not alone when I say that it's hard to find a reason to justify using a Kinect, mine is in its retail box at home. It's a great idea, incorporated sloppily as a competitive push in motion gaming, an afterthought. However, with the Xbox One, the depth of Kinect's interactive capabilities shown at the event were impressive. We are, after all, dealing with "rocket-science level stuff" here. The most consumer-friendly addition is the inclusion of HD Skype calling. Introducing video chat, gestures and voice commands that can switch television inputs, change channels, update your sports fantasy leagues are all nice but at the heart of Kinect, we need better gaming interaction. If the Kinect can make good on its promises and developers can grasp the technology in creative ways, it just might finally compliment the Xbox One experience instead of getting in the way.
Sports games sell. As history has shown, little to no revisions or improvements are required (aside from roster changes) for games like Madden or FIFA to sell like hotcakes year by year. EA Sports owns the expensive licensing rights to produce these sports games and they have been reluctant to fix what isn't broken. Each year, the vocal minority speaks. Sports fans demand more changes and improvements in these sports games. Microsoft and EA now have a plan to do that. They want to make "smarter" games.

According to EA, they can make their games smarter with their hot, shiny next-gen game engine called EA Sports Ignite. Games built upon the Ignite engine will boast athletes with up to "ten times greater animation fidelity..." The engine also promises "Human Intelligence" for athletes in-game. Your favorite athletes will now react with an uncanny likeness to their real-world self with the Ignite engine as it "delivers four times as many calculations per second than previously possible...Players will think and analyze the action, anticipating and reacting to what's occurring around them."

During the Xbox One event, it was announced that EA Sports titles using the Ignite engine would be released later this year, accompanying the release of the Xbox One.

Take a lot at some peeks at the "smarter" animations for yourself. Sound off in the comments if you think these games will be "smarter" or not. Add comment

Add comment
The Wii U is a failure. Sorry to be so blunt but that's the way it is right now. Consumers aren't purchasing the console, developers are reluctant to release games for it and even Nintendo themselves seem to be more concerned with the 3DS. The Wii U's future has been the subject of many debates over the past few months and with E3 approaching, most Wii U owners were hoping that Nintendo would finally silence their critics on our industry's grandest stage.

That was until April 25th 2013, where all hope of the Wii U making an epic recovery was diminished. April 25th was day Nintendo announced that they would not host a press conference at this year's Electronic Games Expo. At a time when Nintendo had to fight harder than they've ever fought before, the company decided that they would not be fighting at all. Naturally this news set the Internet on fire and caused virtual riots on forums across the globe. Nintendo later clarified that will have a conference at E3, just not in the grandiose fashion that we've come to expect. Instead the company will have two smaller "gatherings" and rely on web shows like Nintendo Direct to fill in the blanks. Of course hardcore gamers are still unsettled by this news but rather than focus on the negatives, let's discuss what Nintendo could do to overcome all obstacles and still have a great E3.

In this industry there's never a good time to lay all of your cards on the table, but it seems that Nintendo no longer has a choice. With the Wii U in danger of becoming the next Sega Saturn and new consoles from Microsoft and Sony just months away, this E3 has the potential to make or break Nintendo's future as a console manufacturer. Nintendo's back is firmly pressed up against the wall and they need to come out swinging like Little Mac against Mike Tyson! They need to treat this E3 like it's their last because it very well might be. We all know Smash Bros, a 3D Mario game, Wind Waker HD and Mario Kart 8 will be on display but Nintendo also needs to give us a glimpse of their 2014/2015 line-up. No one is expecting Star Fox or F-Zero titles to be at the show so Nintendo has an opportunity to wow us with EPIC teaser trailers, even if they're all CG and not indicative of the final games. Nintendo could also gain some much-needed Internet Points by showing us more lame Nintendo Land fireworks... but this time have Metroids crash the party which prompts Samus to fall from the sky revealing her beautiful HD form! People would lose their minds!

Seriously though, Nintendo needs to makes GAMES a focus of their E3 presence, games and nothing else! We don't want to hear about MiiVerse launching on the iPhone or how many idiots watched the Super Bowl on Nintendo TVii. Save that crap for a Press Release! We also know that the likes of Pikmin 3, Wii Fit U and Game & Wario are coming soon but we don't need to hear more about them at E3. These games were due out months ago so just release them already! We don't care about new Pikmin colours or Wii Fit poses, we want to see brand new games from the geniuses who helped shape our childhood... even if we won't be able to play them until next year. We also need to see third parties supporting the Wii U with new, original titles. Sonic Lost Levels and Beyonetta 2 and both cool, but let's be honest, most gamers would rather play those games on true next-gen platforms. We need to titles like Rayman Legends and Zombi U that fully utilize the Wii U's unique properties and reminds us why having a giant screen on our controller is actually a good thing.

The sky above Microsoft's HQ in Redmond, Washington may as well be green. After all, the next Xbox (dubbed by many as the Xbox 720) will finally be unveiled to the public tomorrow. Gearing up for the exciting announcement, here's everything you should already know about the next Xbox.

1. What's in a name?

For those who didn't know, Xbox 360 got its name because of its synergistic architecture design, combining gaming, friends and online entertainment seamlessly, full circle, if you will. No one really knows what the next Xbox will be called. Will Microsoft keep the name simple and evocative of the final product? People think they know already know the name of the next Xbox. They could be wrong, they could be right. We don't even know what it will be called. Take a look at the list and put in your best guess.

2. Which price is right?

The Xbox 360 launched at a premium price point of $399.00. I knew a lot of people who thought this was too expensive, but still, I had friends that had no problem spending whatever necessary to be a part of the next-gen revolution. Most consumers are willing to wait for the eventual price drop. Considering the promise of a next-gen experience, how much would you be willing to pay for the next Xbox?

The right price for the next Xbox

3. Games, games, games

This is all we care about, right? We want good games and we want them now! Unfortunately, that's not really how things work. The best games for the Xbox Next and the PS4 likely won't be released for another 4 or 5 years. So, what can you get on launch day? To offer a full launch lineup, Microsoft will likely offer some racing games (Project Gotham or Forza), shooters (COD: Ghosts), sports (EA's annual offering) and the experimental platform-exclusive title that showcases the potential of the new machine (In the past, Halo and Kameo.) What kinds of titles are you looking for on launch day?

4. Xbox Live

Xbox Live is the king of online console gaming services. It's secure, fast, pretty, and robust. It isn't free, unlike the PSN and Nintendo Network services. However, out of the box, Xbox Live offered perks that fans loved and PS3 and Wii owners wished they had. Cross-game chat, fast updates, larger community, and avatars will undoubtedly be present in the next Xbox but more interesting, what other features will Xbox Live bring in the future?

5. What won't we know after the reveal?

We will know the name, what the console looks like and we will see games. It's possible we might see more, but with the E3 conference right around the corner, Microsoft is going to save their big punches for then. Expect enough only to wet your whistle and nothing more.
