Sniffle--does anyone have a tissue? Alright, so maybe that's not the primary motivation for opening a studio in Sweden, but we'd imagine it's at least a nice bonus. Just think: Swedes and Finns working together to keeping making the most popular mobile game ever more awesome. Don't you wish more international rivalries were inadvertently settled through video games?
"2012 is going to be a big year in gaming for us, and we're constantly on the lookout for great new talent," Rovio Games EVP Petri Järvilehto said in a release. "We're excited to expand to Stockholm and work in one of Europe's gaming and innovation hotspots."
Actually, that last bit is kind of true. Sweden is home to game developers like DICE, which created the most recent Battlefield shooter game. Sweden's also home to Ben Cousins, the ngmoco Sweden head that has lots to say about the future of games. Rovio looks to bring in about 30 staffers into its Stockholm office, including a general manager. Now, can we finally get that ABBA and Angry Birds collaboration? We've been waiting forever over here.
Excited to see what becomes of Rovio Stockholm? What do you think of Angry Birds Space so far? Sound off in the comments. Add Comment.
