If you're interested in playing Sony games on yet another device, Verizon will begin to take pre-orders Thursday. Thankfully, you won't need to buy games immediately along with that $200 price tag, as the Xperia Play comes loaded with seven games. And they're not your average games of Snake and Solitaire. Right out of the box, you'll have access to Madden 11, The Sims 3, Crash Bandicoot and more.
While the phones features a 4-inch touchscreen, playing games won't be much different from your standard PlayStation games. The phone slides to reveal not a QWERTY keyboard, but a full PlayStation controller complete with touch-sensitive joysticks. And thanks to a 1GHz Qualcomm processor, the Xperia Play should be able to handle much more than Bejeweled.
However, Sony might still have some issues restoring confidence in even Verizon customers after the PSN/SOE debacle that's just beginning to clear up. Network issues be damned, Sony presses on, bringing its PlayStation brand to even more devices than ever (perhaps even unnecessarily).
